Below are the most common questions we get asked. If the information you require isn't covered below,
please get in touch via the contact page.
|
| What format do you require the image in? |
We mostly work with digital images (ideally with a minimum of 300 dpi) and can also scan in photographs.
The higher the resolution or dpi (dots per inch) the better as this will maximise the quality of the finished image.
File formats that work best are EPS, JPG, RAW, PSD (Photoshop) or TIFF.
|
| Are you able to make any adjustments to the image? |
Yes, using Photoshop we can tidy up the image and clean it of any imperfections, particularly useful
for older photographs with dust marks, etc. It is also possible to convert colour images to black and white or sepia.
It is important to note that as all monitors have different colour settings we cannot guarantee the colours will be
identical on the canvas to that of your monitor.
|
| What type of images work best on canvas? |
All sorts! Photos of children, pets, families, weddings, holiday snaps, babies, travel, children's
artwork, special occasions, historical family images.
|
| What is the turnaround time with orders? |
Depending on the size and whether there is any touch up work involved, orders generally take 5-7
days to complete once full payment is received.
|
| What type of printer do you use? |
We use a large format Hewlett Packard 44 inch printer. The printer uses eight Vivera pigment inks
and creates consistent, accurate color. It also has an embedded spectrophotometer with i1 color technology
which essentially guarantees the best possible output.
|
| What type of canvas do you use? |
We use the Sihl Instant Dry Satin Canvas which is a double weave cotton/polyester canvas for high
quality graphic arts applications. The canvas is stretchable with a satin finish, and has a special water-resistant
ink receptive coating which means the canvases are suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, etc however shouldn't be put
in direct contact with water. Our canvas gives superior image quality, color gamut, saturation and resolution and
is highly resistant to cracking when stretched over frames. The canvas carries a 70 year guarantee providing it
is cared for correctly.
|
| Can you print onto anything other than canvas? |
Yes, we have various sizes of boards available with white sides and backing which are also suitable
for printing onto and mounting. The image in this instance will be on the front of the board only.
|
| How is my image packaged and sent? |
Your image will be wrapped securely in bubble wrap and well protected for postage. Alternatively you
are welcome to collect your image from our premises at Half Moon Bay in Auckland. Postage costs will be communicated
when a final quote of the image is given.
|
| How large can you print? |
We are able to print any size to a maximum height or width of 1 metre. On the prices page we have
given prices for the most popular sizes but if the size you are after is not listed please contact us for a
quote.
|
| Am I able to exchange a canvas if it is unsuitable? |
We are happy to exchange any of the meikledesign flora images within 14 days should they be unsuitable
however no exchanges or refunds are available on custom orders.
|
| How do I care for my canvas? |
In order to maximise the lifespan of your canvas it is important to keep it out of direct sunlight and
away from direct contact with moisture. It can be dusted lightly with a soft duster.
|
| How do I pay for my order? |
Payment can be made by either cash on collection, cheque or direct debited into the following account:
meikledesign

Please indicate your name on bank deposits.
|
| Will my image wrap around the sides? |
If you wish your image to wrap around the 4cm side of the canvas frame please bear in mind you will
lose 4cm of the image from each side that would otherwise appear on the front. An alternative for images where
this is not possible is to have either a plain white, black or coloured side to match colours within the
image.
